oh no! An orange!

I tried to take a picture of the orange balanced perfectly on my head, but it wouldn't stay. Eventually, I just held it there. Oranges are full of sun, and so summery, like me, so I thought it would be perfect for a self-portrait. :)

Finally finished with the self-portrait project!

YES! This project was hard, and took forever. I couldn't help but celebrate on my last picture. :) It's really grainy, I think because I used a mirror, or because the picture was small to begin with, and I cut a lot out while I was printing.

Back to the Beginging

As much as we wish we can keep going forever, eventually we have to stop. When my sister stops, she usually crashes. During these times, its easy to go back to what we loved as little kids; feeling small and insecure makes us need comfort, and what comforted us years ago will still comfort us now. However, the older we get, we often feel guilty for enjoying what enjoyed as kids. We feel like we should outgrow it. I know my sister feels like this especially. That's why I love how big she looks in the little kid swing. Sucking her thumb, she looks vulnerable and scared, like all she wants to do is just fit in the swing. I love that she doesn't because, it adds to the feeling of the picture.

Trapped

Though my sister is constantly moving, she never seems to be able to accomplish what she wants to the degree that she wants. She holds herself to a higher standard than she holds anything else, and thus, traps herself. I wanted to show this somehow, so I chose the dinosaur bones at Ibach Park. I like how the sand adds a desert-y feeling, like she's a mouse caught in some old skeleton bleached out by desert sands. This picture got my point across perfectly.

peekaboo!

Since my sister came and posed for me directly after an orchestra concert, she only had time to throw on a sweatshirt over her gown and go to the park. The effect is kind of creepy; the sweatshirt is all you can see in the slide, and it looks like she's a lizard or snake.

What Now?!

The rest of the world has to look out when my sister comes! Take that rest of the world!

Ups and Downs

My sister was a great sport for portraits. I love this picture, because it fits her perfectly. She does everything with a constant bubble of energy. She tends to blur while everything around her stands still in comparison, just like in this picture.

Try Trisket Now!

All it took was one question about Katie Couric, and my dad and Aunt are doing what they do best- debating politics. They are way to into their conversation to remember that I am taking portraits of them still, but my uncle remembers. He looks like he's begging me to get him out of there. This could also be a great commercial for Trisket.

Almost time...

For as long as I can remember, my grandpa has lived in the kitchen. He loves to cook wholesome, filling, home-style food, and is never happier than when he's making something the whole family can enjoy. The only joy that comes close to cooking is eating what's just been cooked. This picture gets that across perfectly; I'm so glad he let me take portraits while he was cooking. His smile is priceless. :)

The aftermath

My first cousin is calmly reflecting on the lesson he's been taught, while my other cousin makes sure he really understands whose in charge.

Wolf Pack

My cousins are constantly fighting. I like this picture, because it captures perfectly both of my cousins attitudes right before a fight. The cousin in the foreground thinks he is really cool, and much tougher than the cousin in the background. The other cousin puts up with his attitude for a little while, then shows him whose actually in charge.

Portriats

I loved this project! I had so much fun with my subjects/models. They all were completely unafraid to let me see the real them, and it made really good pictures. I had so many good pictures on this roll, I had to print them all.

Blair Witch Pumpkin Pt. I

The woods looked so soft and frozen in the morning fog, I had to take a picture. Unfortunately, the fog burned off before I got back with my camera, but it was still cloudy out, and the woods still looked a little creepy. It occured to me that this would be the perfect place for an evil pumpkin- and thus the Blair Witch Pumpkin Project was born.

Rings

This picture always makes me think of outer-space. The rings look like mini planets on the table, and their shadows add to that sense of surrealism. *Last picture with direct light* :)

Pond Monster

This is more direct light. I like how it illuminates my dad in the water; combined with the angle my dad is standing at, the light really makes him stand out against the fence.

My Puppy

My dog did not want to get out of the way of my picture, so I decided he could be my picture. It's more direct light, which I like, because it makes his fur seems dirtier. I like the impression of dirt, because my dog is constantly digging under trees and just getting generally dirty.

Blair Witch Pumpkin Pt. II

I love this picture, because the pumpkin looks so freaky against the gravel driveway. I love the face that's carved in it too. :) It's direct light, so it seems really dramatic- which is just perfect for the Blair Witch Pumpkin.
